A small family winery in umbria

Our winery is located in the hamlet of Montemolino near Todi under the ancient
Church dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo. For over 700 years, monks and later priests,
made their wine in this cellar. After the death of the last resident parish priest of Montemolino,
the cellar was abandoned for several decades. We ran across it when we discovered that
legislation would not allow us to build a winery on our property because of the proximity
to the Tiber river so we decided to start looking for something suitable in the village.
We also discovered that in 1542 the stone altar of a ruined church once standing in our
vineyard had been brought into the church of Montemolino where it remains to this day.
It felt like a circle had closed and we had found the perfect place.
